FELT BROOCHES AND PINS

These brooches are constructed from repurposed/recycled felt used to make traditional Peruvian Andean hats. 100% wool felt; each triangle is hand cut before being applied to each other to become a brooch. Sustainable designs include flower pins and brooches such as Dahlias, roses and Chrysanthemums.

About the designer: VACIDE ERDA ZIMIC
Vacide's career started as an artist studying painting in the Fine Arts Dept. at The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. After graduating, she experimented in set design, cabinet design, photography and illustration before she devoting herself to product design. In 2001 she started her own studio and workshop employing local artisans .

At present her re-cycled fashion accessories collection is dedicated to the use of textiles in sustainable ways. Zimic employs recycled and reclaimed scrap fabrics such as felt, cotton, georgette, alpaca and industrial carpet combining them to make objects using different processes such as sewing, rolling, sticking and cutting. Her eco-fashion accents includes handbags, necklaces, brooches, earrings and other fashion accessories. She lives in Lima with her daughter and husband and collaborates with local Peruvian artisans in a Fair Trade manner.
